【Bio】
 

Taipei born violinist Dr. Ching-Hsuan Wang is a versatile violinist and music educator, who is also passionate about cross-cultural music experiences. Her debut album Nikolai Kapustin's String Works: Violin Sonata Op. 70 and String Quartet No. 1, Op. 88 was praised by the Downbeat award-winning composer Michael Conrad as the violinist who "captures the feeling of spontaneity that is at the core of jazz music." The album includes her solo performances and her co-founded cross-genre group Dynamix String Quartet. Her doctoral dissertation is entitled A Comprehensive Analysis of Jazz Elements in Nikolai Kapustin’s Violin Sonata Opus 70 and String Quartet Number 1, Opus 88, which is one of the rare dissertations on the composer's string music.

 

Her other album credit includes jazz vocalist Annie Chen’s original album “Pisces the Dreamer” (2014); Downbeat award-winning jazz orchestra - All Angles Orchestra’s original album “New Angle” (2017) featuring jazz trumpeter Alex Sipiagin. The group also shared stage with Grammy award-winning trumpeter Randy Brecker and saxophonist Bob Sheppard. Other albums include classic soul band The Burroughs’ “Got to Feel”(2018) album and Conner Shaw's original album "Portraits of a Lost Summer"(2019). Ching-Hsuan premiered for the New York composer Stephanie Ann Boyd’s 50 State Project in the State of Colorado. She was the featured violinist for the Global Saxophone Quartet tour in Beijing, Tianjing, Changsha and Wuhan, China in 2015 and 2017. As the winner of Walter and Virginia Charles Concerto Contest, Ching-Hsuan was featured to perform with the Greeley Chamber Orchestra in 2009 and 2016.  Ching-Hsuan was the featured violinist for the Blue Note China Jazz Orchestra on its 4th year celebration.

 

Ching-Hsuan received her Doctor of Arts from University of Northern Colorado. She received her Master of Music from New York University, and her Bachelor of Music from University of Northern Colorado where she was the recipient of the International Undergraduate Scholarship and the Henry T. & Blanche L. Ginsburg Music Scholarship. She has had the honor of working with Jubal Fulks, Gregory Fulkerson, and Richard Fuchs. She was a former faculty at Beijing Contemporary Music Academy and former member of the Beijing Symphony Orchestra. Ching-Hsuan is an endorsing artist for D'Addario and NS Design on her electric violin.
