【Bio】
Sonia, Erh Yu Chiu was born in Taipei, Taiwan, she started playing the piano at the age of 4 and the cello at the age of 11.At the age of 15, she moved to the UK and studied in A-level school. The Music Department of St. Joseph's College UK (St. John's College, UK) majored in piano and minored in cello. She studied with Christopher Tinker and Joyce Warwick. She participated in music competitions for two consecutive years while studying at St. Joseph’s College in UK, Won the first and second honors, and acted as a piano soloist in the Summer Music Festival in 2004.
She had a scholarship to study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire UK (Royal Birmingham Conservatoire UK). During the school period, she studied with head of the piano department Malcolm Wilson, Simon Nicolles, John Humphrey, Rober Markham, Victor Sangiorgio and Philp Martin also participated in many master classes with Peter Donohoe , Margaret Fingerhut, Andrew Ball and other concert pianists. During the school period, she often participated in solo and chamber music competitions. In 2006 and 2007, she performed solo and chamber music performances in the concert church at St. Martin!
After undergraduate, She received a scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music (Northern Royal College of Music)for MMus (Performance of Master), tutored by Colin Stone, Philppe Cassard, participated in the master class Steven Hough Paul Janes, accompanist David Jhons, and chamber music teacher Jeremy Yong during their stay in the UK Participation in many recitals, chamber music concerts and competitions. 2011 solo and chamber music performances at Saint Martin Church!
After she finished her degree, she moved back to Taiwan. She has been giving concerts at Wenshi Arts and Cultural Center, Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, College Administrative Building , Elite Performance Hall, K.H.S.music Instruments, Forum Music Auditorium, Blast up music school ……etc.
Since 2006, she has been an interpreter for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Examination (ABRSM) in Taipei, and also training and teaching the Royal Board of Music Examination!
